Greetings humans, I’m a Herman’s Tortoise and live here at The Bright Times. I really need your help! I have just moved in and have the best new house! I have great rocks to climb over and a paddling pool that I get to play in even though its winter. The problem is I have not got a name! Can you help me? · The average life span of a Herman’s Tortoise is 104 years!
· Tortoise’s live so long because they use hardly any energy.
· They are found in many parts of Southern Europe including Southern France, Italy, Sardinia and Sicily.
· They feed mainly on juicy plants, leaves and fruit.
· The tortoise's backbone, ribs, shoulder blades and pelvis are fused to the shell.
· Tortoises use muscles in their front legs to pump air in and out of the lungs.
· Tortoises are sometimes spoken of as "living fossils" because they have been around for 200 million years!
